Humanoid robots capable of running, boxing, and climbing may be deployed in military roles within the next decade, according to a Chinese developer. The statement was made during the 2026 World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, where over 2,000 robots competed in various events. Despite some impressive performances, the competition also highlighted current technological limitations. Yang Kun, an engineer from AGIBOT, believes that humanoid robots could deter conflicts and protect people, while dismissing fears of autonomous robots becoming dangerous. He envisions their future use in both military and civilian settings, as China invests heavily in robotics and AI to enhance its global standing in technology.
