Deters provided text messages suggesting Guilfoyle wanted the funds transferred to avoid detection. Guilfoyle's attorney disputes the authenticity of these messages. The investigation has raised concerns within the State Department, as such inquiries are uncommon. The White House and State Department have declined to comment on the allegations or the investigation.
