Mayor George Ene demanded the removal of traffic signals and an alternative route to avoid major congestion. CNAIR stated that the proposed alternative would require constructing a new road, taking about six months. The dispute centers on traffic diversion during repairs, with the local administration rejecting the initial plan due to potential bottlenecks. The overpass, opened in January 2024, has shown significant deterioration, raising concerns about its structural integrity, although CNAIR claims the main structure remains unaffected. Repairs are under warranty and will be funded by the contractor.
