Scandal de spionaj între Rusia și Japonia. Un jurnalist, reținut de serviciile secrete ruse
A Japanese journalist was arrested in Russia on suspicion of gathering defense-related information. He was detained in Sakhalin while preparing to leave the country. The Federal Security Service (FSB) claimed he was collecting data to be used against Russia's national security. The journalist, working for Hokkaido Shimbun, was shown in a metal cage during a court appearance in Moscow, where he was ordered to be held for two months. Russia views Japan as an unfriendly nation due to its alignment with Western sanctions following the Ukraine conflict. The two countries have ongoing territorial disputes over the Kuril Islands, with Russia increasing its military presence there despite diplomatic efforts. In recent years, Russia has arrested several foreign nationals, often releasing them in prisoner exchanges.
