Scafandrii arheologi cercetează ruinele Podului lui Constantin cel Mare în Dunăre

The low water level of the Danube has revealed parts of the foundations of the Bridge of Constantine the Great, allowing divers to explore these ancient remains. This rare opportunity enables archaeologists to study the construction techniques used nearly 1,700 years ago. The bridge, which connected the Roman settlements of Sucidava and Oescus, measured approximately 2,400 meters in length, with over 1,100 meters spanning the river. Researchers hope to gain insights into the engineering methods of the Romans, as many details about the bridge's construction remain unknown. The current conditions provide a temporary window for documenting these historical structures before they are submerged again.
