Six individuals have been detained in a cigarette smuggling case involving a criminal group that introduced around 70 million cigarettes into Romania, causing a loss of approximately 62 million lei. The group, consisting of Romanian and Moldovan citizens, used vegetable and fruit shipments as cover for their operations. Following extensive investigations, including multiple searches across several counties, the authorities seized over 6 million cigarettes and several vehicles. The detained individuals are set to be presented to the court for preventive arrest.
