Sărbătoare mare pe 9 august 2026. Sfântul cunoscut pentru vindecări și ajutor în momente grele
On August 9, Orthodox Christians celebrate Saint Matthias, one of Jesus Christ's apostles, who spread the Gospel in various regions. He was chosen to replace Judas Iscariot after Judas betrayed Jesus. Saint Matthias faced numerous dangers while preaching, including torture and poisoning, yet he performed miracles, healing many and converting others to Christianity. His relics were brought to Rome by Empress Helena in 324, with some later discovered in Trier, Germany, and moved to a Benedictine abbey named after him.
