The Green Week has started at Văcărești Natural Park, allowing students to explore this unique urban ecosystem through guided tours. Schools are encouraged to include Văcărești in their programs for the 2026-2027 school year. Last year, 15,000 students participated in the project, learning about biodiversity and nature conservation. Văcărești, once a failed construction site, has transformed into a protected area with rich wildlife. The park's history dates back to before the communist era, with significant changes over the decades, including the demolition of the Văcărești Monastery. In 2016, Văcărești was officially designated as Romania's first urban natural park, attracting more visitors each year through various community events and educational activities.
