Săpături ilegale după aur în Munții Apuseni

Illegal excavations for gold are being conducted by Gekko&Neka Invest in the Stănija area of the Apuseni Mountains, affecting a protected archaeological site. The company lacks the necessary permits for these activities, which include drilling in an area with significant Roman and medieval mining heritage. Despite claims of minor exploratory work, the reality shows systematic legal violations, including continuous operations at night and environmental damage. Concerns have been raised about the impact on local watercourses and the presence of toxic runoff from the site. Activists describe the situation as a blatant act of vandalism against Romania's historical heritage.
