Bucharest is set to start the 2026-2027 school year with numerous active construction sites affecting traffic. Currently, there are 63 construction sites, with 35 directly impacting traffic on 30 main roads. Additionally, 230 educational institutions are located within 500 meters of these sites. The city has coordinated with the Traffic Brigade to ensure pedestrian safety and manage traffic flow in sensitive areas. Major projects include the construction of Metro Line 6 and ongoing roadworks in Prelungirea Ghencea. Despite some restrictions being lifted in areas like Piața Unirii and Pasajul Basarab, significant traffic disruptions are expected as school begins, particularly in the north and west of the city.
