Romania's energy system avoided a blackout after the unexpected shutdown of Unit 1 at the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant, thanks to favorable market conditions and emergency imports. The peak consumption for the week is estimated at 7,300 MW, lower than previous weeks due to holiday periods. Domestic production is projected between 4,000 and 4,300 MW, with the remainder covered by imports. Transelectrica assures that the national energy system remains stable and safe, while new capacities are set to come online soon. The shutdown was a precautionary measure due to low Danube water levels, ensuring cooling pumps remain operational.
