In 2025, Romania's average gross monthly salary reached 8,716 lei, an increase of 8.1% from the previous year. The net average salary rose to 5,266 lei, up by 6.2%. The highest net salaries were found in telecommunications and IT consulting, while the lowest were in hospitality and agriculture. Women earned 4.8% less than men on average. The average monthly labor cost was 9,126 lei, also reflecting an 8.1% increase. The number of employees grew by 73,200, totaling 5,526,400, with men making up 52.4% of the workforce. The tertiary sector employed the majority of workers, while significant salary disparities persisted across different economic activities and regions.
