The social services provided by the Brașov Social Assistance Directorate are severely impacted by a significant staff shortage. The most critical situation is at the Nursing Home for the Elderly in Noua, which is operating at only half its capacity. Director Mariana Topoliceanu stated that available spots have decreased from 135 to 75 due to unfilled vacancies. Despite recruitment efforts, candidates are deterred by low salaries in social assistance. The director clarified that the reduced activity at the nursing home is unrelated to the temporary relocation of a psychiatric hospital section, with the real issue being the lack of qualified staff.
