More companies are offering meal vouchers and gift cards instead of salary increases as the average salary continues to decline. The average net salary in Romania dropped by 2.3% in August, marking the 14th consecutive month of decline. Over half of employees express dissatisfaction with their earnings, with many believing they deserve higher pay. The most significant salary decreases were noted in sectors like vehicle manufacturing and architecture, while some areas, such as gambling and film production, saw increases. Despite the overall decline, the average net salary rose by 5.6% compared to August 2025.
