Meteorologists predict temperatures could reach 43 degrees Celsius in the shade. This area, covering nearly 6% of the county, highlights the consequences of massive deforestation and land degradation. The phenomenon is worsening annually, with sandy dunes expanding by about 1,000 hectares each year, reducing arable land. Deforestation is the main cause of this expansion, as forest belts that protected the soil have largely been removed. Climate change warnings have been issued for years, indicating significant temperature increases and reduced rainfall, particularly in summer. The heatwave is expected to peak on August 7, with discomfort levels potentially exceeding thermometer readings.
