The investigation is focused on the crime of desecration of graves. The cemetery is at the center of a dispute between the Slatina City Hall and a private company that previously managed it. The police acted following a 112 emergency call reporting the remains found behind a wall in the chapel. The mayor has accused the former administrator of mishandling remains, while legal disputes over the cemetery's management continue.
