AFC Hermannstadt has announced its withdrawal from Liga 2 just before the new season starts, following its recent relegation from Liga 1. Olimpia Satu Mare will take its place in the league. The decision was confirmed by the Romanian Football Federation, which stated that CSM Olimpia Satu Mare will also assume Hermannstadt's competition schedule. Founded in 2015, Hermannstadt promoted to Liga 1 in 2018 but faced relegation again this summer after a playoff match. The team has reached two Romanian Cup finals but lost both.
