Coalburn 1, a 500 MW battery storage system in Scotland, has commenced commercial operations, becoming Europe's largest operational battery. Developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, it enhances the UK's energy flexibility and supports renewable energy integration. Coalburn 1 is part of a larger portfolio that includes Coalburn 2 and Devilla, collectively providing 1.5 GW of power and 3 GWh of storage capacity. This project marks a significant milestone for CIP in its European BESS portfolio.
