The new road bridge over the Tisza River connecting Sighetu Marmației (Romania) and Bila Tserkva (Ukraine) has opened for vehicles up to 3.5 tons. This infrastructure project, named Maramureș-Transcarpatia, enhances cross-border connectivity and is part of a larger European transport network. The bridge spans 268.8 meters and includes a new border control point. The project, costing 135.8 million lei, was initiated in July 2022 and is expected to eventually accommodate larger vehicles and buses. The director of CNAIR emphasized its significance for economic development and NATO's eastern flank.
