Russian oil refineries are constructing walls from shipping containers to protect against drone attacks. This new measure aims to limit damage to processing facilities and storage tanks. However, the effectiveness of these barriers in real attack scenarios remains unproven. The makeshift walls may offer partial protection against low-flying drones and debris from explosions, but parts of the installations above the wall height remain vulnerable. Analysts suggest that these barriers could also help contain spilled petroleum products and flames. Other protective measures include anti-drone nets and metal frames to mitigate impact effects. Recent drone strikes have targeted major refineries, causing significant damage.
