Russia has begun importing gasoline from India for the first time due to internal fuel shortages exacerbated by Ukrainian attacks on its oil infrastructure. The imports signal significant pressure on Russia's energy sector, as Ukrainian strikes have severely reduced its oil processing capacity. The first shipments arrived last week from Nayara Energy, a company partly owned by Russian oil giant Rosneft, transported via Egypt. Analysts note that Russian refineries are operating at about one-third below seasonal expectations, prompting Moscow to ban gasoline and diesel exports since April to prioritize domestic consumption. This situation highlights the imbalance in the Russian market, as Moscow seeks to maintain supply while Ukraine targets critical components of the Russian economy.
