Russia has lowered its oil production forecast for this year to the lowest level in 17 years, revising down its fuel export projections for 2026 and 2027 due to the impacts of the Ukraine war. The new estimates indicate a production decrease of 16 to 20 million tons for 2026-2029 compared to previous forecasts. The EU's ban on most oil imports from Russia has significantly affected revenue, while drone attacks have further reduced fuel production, causing gasoline shortages. The government anticipates a production drop of 17.2 million tons this year, with a slight increase expected next year, but still below earlier projections. Export restrictions have been implemented to address domestic shortages, leading to a forecasted decline in fuel exports this year.
