Despite these claims, Spain possesses a significant firefighting aircraft fleet and has ordered new amphibious planes. The EU's civil protection mechanism has also deployed additional aircraft to assist. Recent wildfires have threatened strategic military facilities in France, prompting the deployment of military aircraft for firefighting efforts.
