Russia is increasing its oil exports to China via the Northern Sea Route, with seven tankers carrying about 6 million barrels. This volume is nearly half of last year's total for the same route. The Arctic route allows Russia to bypass European waters, shortening the journey to China by two weeks. Favorable ice conditions this year are facilitating maritime transport, and the importance of Asian markets for Russia has grown due to reduced European energy imports. The Vostok Oil project may further boost exports in the coming months.
