Starting October 1, 2026, drivers can purchase the rovinieta again at PayPoint terminals, which now offer two optional services: roadside assistance and SMS notifications. The roadside assistance service costs 29 lei for 12 months and covers vehicle breakdowns within Romania, excluding taxis and vehicles over 3.5 tons. The SMS Alert service notifies users when their rovinieta is about to expire, costing 0.69 euros. Customers can activate this service by providing their phone number during the purchase. The reactivation of the rovinieta service aims to enhance customer convenience and increase transactions at partner locations.
