Romanian air passengers may soon be allowed two free carry-on bags when flying within the EU, following a provisional agreement by the European Parliament and member states. The new regulations will include an allowance for a personal item and a larger cabin bag, aiming to eliminate extra fees currently charged by many airlines. However, airlines can still offer lower fares for passengers traveling without cabin baggage. The new rules are expected to take effect in October 2027, pending final approval. Notably, due to Brexit, these regulations will not automatically apply to UK-based carriers, and passengers departing from UK airports will not receive free carry-on baggage under EU rules.
