Românii scot din buzunar un sfert din sumele alocate sănătății

National health expenditures in Romania have surged by over 18% in one year, exceeding 108 billion lei in 2024. Despite public health insurance covering a significant portion, citizens still face high out-of-pocket costs for consultations, tests, and medications. The majority of funds are allocated to hospitals, which consume 42.5% of the budget, while direct payments from patients account for nearly a quarter of total health spending. Preventive care remains underfunded, receiving only 1.1% of the budget, highlighting ongoing challenges in the healthcare system.
