Românii își vor putea ține buletinul și permisul pe telefon: când va putea fi folosit RO Wallet în România

The RO Wallet, a digital identity wallet for Romanians, is set to launch in early 2027, allowing users to store official documents on their phones. The project has entered a new phase with the release of its official website and technical documentation. The first test version is expected by October 2026, with a beta version in December and the official launch in January 2027. Initially, users will be able to store identification data, proof of residence, and digital driving licenses, with plans to add more documents later. The wallet will comply with EU standards, enabling use across member states. The Romanian government is adapting an open-source solution from Germany to reduce costs, although the total project cost remains undisclosed.
