This resulted in a tourism-related external deficit of €2.5 billion. Factors contributing to this trend include competitive prices in foreign destinations, inadequate infrastructure in Romania, and a decrease in vacation vouchers. Economists highlight that many services are cheaper abroad, prompting Romanians to seek better value for their travel budgets. Additionally, the lack of effective promotion of Romania as a tourist destination limits the attraction of foreign tourists. Industry representatives stress the need for improved marketing strategies and better coordination among authorities to enhance Romania's tourism appeal.
