Cristian Pelivan from ARMO reported a significant drop in packages ordered from outside the EU, approximately 40%, following the tax implementation. The national tax of 25 lei per package and a European tax of 3 euros per product have affected local marketing budgets, as online stores reduce spending due to decreased consumer purchases. Pelivan noted that the impact of these taxes on local businesses remains to be seen, as they may shift demand towards Romanian or EU online retailers. Additionally, Asian platforms have improved user interfaces for local stores, potentially boosting online commerce.
