Românii au cheltuit 42 miliarde de euro în retail

In 2025, Romanians spent over 42 billion euros in retail, marking a 5.6% increase from 2024 and a 77% rise since 2019. Supermarkets led with 25.7 billion euros in sales, while the DIY sector followed with 4.2 billion euros. The cosmetics segment saw the highest growth at 12.8%. Despite economic challenges, retail performance remained strong, driven by new store openings and online sales expansion. The retail market in Romania reached approximately 4.92 million square meters, with significant investments in shopping centers. However, the first half of 2026 saw a GDP contraction of 0.8% and a 5.6% decline in retail sales due to reduced purchasing power.
