România va găzdui titlul de Capitală Europeană a Culturii în 2034 - Economica.net
Romania will host the title of European Capital of Culture in 2034, as announced by the Ministry of Culture. The European Commission has officially confirmed the calendar, highlighting Romania's previous experiences with Sibiu in 2007 and Timișoara in 2023. The new framework emphasizes a long-term commitment rather than a one-year program, with results evaluated beyond the title year. Candidacies will be simpler, with fewer criteria and opportunities for cross-border applications. The Ministry plans to submit initial candidacies by autumn 2028, with finalists announced in 2029. A national cultural strategy is also being developed to support candidate cities, ensuring continuity of cultural projects beyond the competition.
