România va găzdui Capitala Europeană a Culturii în 2034
Romania will host the title of European Capital of Culture in 2034, as announced by the European Commission. The country has previously held this title in Sibiu (2007) and Timișoara (2023), which enhanced cultural infrastructure and European partnerships. The Ministry of Culture emphasizes that the new framework transforms the title into a long-term commitment, with evaluations extending beyond the award year. Candidacies will be simplified, allowing for easier joint applications, and youth involvement will be prioritized. The first candidacies for 2034 will be submitted in autumn 2028, with finalists announced in 2029. The Ministry is also preparing a National Culture Strategy for 2027-2034 to support the candidacies.
