România va avea din nou Capitală Europeană a Culturii în 2034. Comisia Europeană schimbă regulile competiției

Romania will host the title of European Capital of Culture again in 2034, following Sibiu 2007 and Timișoara 2023. The European Commission proposes a new framework for future editions, focusing on simplified application procedures and long-term impacts. The process for 2034 will begin years in advance, with candidate submissions expected in autumn 2028. The Minister of Culture emphasized the need for a coherent national strategy to support candidate cities, aiming for sustainable urban development and community resilience. The European experience shows that the title can yield lasting benefits, including cultural space development and increased tourism.
