Romania ranks last in the EU for digital skills, with only 31.84% of its population possessing basic or advanced digital competencies. Despite significant internet access improvements, the country still lags behind the EU average of 60.4%. In 2025, Romania achieved a household internet connectivity rate of 95.47%, surpassing the EU average. However, the challenge remains in enhancing digital skills among its citizens. The percentage of internet users in Romania rose to 93.15% in 2025, but the country still falls short of the EU average in digital competencies.
