In the second quarter of 2026, Romania's GDP decreased by 0.4% compared to the same quarter in 2025, and by 2.0% when seasonally adjusted. For the first half of 2026, GDP fell by 0.7% in raw terms and 1.6% seasonally adjusted compared to the first half of 2025. The seasonally adjusted GDP for Q2 2026 was estimated at 521.099 billion lei. Positive contributions to GDP growth came from construction, cultural activities, and agriculture, while negative contributions were noted from retail, industry, and public administration. Household consumption decreased by 2.5%, impacting GDP negatively, while public consumption increased. Gross fixed capital formation rose by 10.9%, contributing positively to GDP growth. The net export had a slight negative effect due to rising imports.
