Romania ranks 61st out of 70 in the IMD annual ranking, dropping 12 places from last year, marking the steepest decline in four years. The country now lags behind Poland, Hungary, and Bulgaria, while being ahead of Mexico and Slovakia. The most concerning aspect is the business environment efficiency, which fell from 50th to 69th place. However, infrastructure showed improvement, rising from 51st to 47th. The Romanian Performance Excellence Program is set to open new registrations for a series starting in September 2026, limited to 15 organizations.
