The development of fixed-wing drones in Romania faces significant challenges due to a lack of testing infrastructure and BVLOS regulations. Răzvan Costea-Bărluțiu from BraveX highlighted the legislative gap compared to Western Europe, which hampers local UAV production. Current VLOS rules are inadequate for advanced drone testing, forcing companies to rely on military ranges for validation. This situation increases financial and technological risks for local manufacturers, making precise digital design crucial. BraveX recently partnered with Romaero to boost production capacity significantly by 2028.
