România, printre ţările europene cu cea mai mare proporţie a diagnosticelor HIV tardive • Newsweek România
Romania ranks among European countries with a high rate of late HIV diagnoses, with over 60% identified at advanced infection stages. This issue was highlighted during a European debate on the goal to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2030. Annually, around 24,000-25,000 HIV infections are reported in the EU and EEA, with nearly 800,000 individuals living with HIV in the region. Recent ECDC data indicates that in 2024, 48% of HIV diagnoses in EU member states were late, defined as having CD4 counts below 350 cells/mm³, excluding children under 15 and previously known HIV-positive individuals.
