România, printre pionierii hidroaviației. Cu ce se lăuda acum 101 ani, în 1925, primul hidroavion românesc? • Newsweek România
In 1925, Romania became a pioneer in hydroaviation with the launch of its first hydroplane, the GETTA S.T.C. R.A.S.-1. Designed by engineer Radu A. Stoika, it was 10.5 meters long and equipped with three machine guns. The hydroplane was built by the Transport Society Constanța S.A. and successfully completed its first flight on August 17, 1925. Despite initial plans for mass production, only three units were constructed due to a lack of support from the Ministry of War. The GETTA was intended for reconnaissance and pilot training, demonstrating good performance even in adverse weather conditions.
