Romania ranks surprisingly high in a European generosity report, with citizens donating an average of 0.9% of their income. The World Giving Report by Charities Aid Foundation surveyed over 60,000 people across 105 countries. While Romania leads the EU in total donations relative to income, only 27% of respondents reported donating to charities. In contrast, Ireland and the Netherlands had higher percentages of charitable donations. The report highlights a correlation between community belonging and generosity, with countries showing strong community ties donating significantly more. Globally, Nigeria tops the list with 2.8% of income donated, while Japan has the lowest at 0.2%.
