Romania continues to experience demographic decline, with deaths exceeding births by 5,280 in July 2026. Births decreased by 4.2% compared to the previous year, totaling 13,497. Deaths were recorded at 18,777, showing a slight decrease from June 2026. The natural population growth remains negative, with deaths 1.4 times higher than births. The situation worsened compared to July 2025, where the deficit was 4,861. Additionally, 12,756 marriages and 2,058 divorces were registered in July 2026.
