Mihai Bordeanu, head of Dacia, warned that Romania is losing competitiveness in the automotive industry due to rising energy costs, which have doubled since the pandemic. He emphasized the importance of the auto sector, which accounts for a third of Romania's exports and 14% of GDP, supporting around 200,000 jobs. Bordeanu noted that Romania has missed key opportunities, such as producing the first electric Dacia model in Slovenia and the Dacia Striker in Turkey. He called for urgent measures to address competitiveness issues, including reducing energy costs and improving labor market flexibility. Ondrej Safar from CEZ Romania echoed these concerns, highlighting the need for a competitive energy strategy.
