In July 2026, Romania experienced the highest annual increase in fuel prices in the EU, with a rise of 24.2%. Diesel prices increased by 4.6%, while gasoline saw a slight decrease of 0.8%. Other EU countries also reported price hikes, with Germany and Lithuania following closely behind. The average EU increase for diesel was 4.3%, and for gasoline, it was 4.7%. In contrast, Hungary was the only EU country to see a decrease in fuel prices compared to July 2025.
