Authorities highlighted the importance of various factors beyond gas reserves for winter preparedness. Currently, gas storage is at 73.6%, lower than last year, but internal production and daily extraction capacity are also crucial. An extensive investment program is underway, particularly at the Bilciurești facility, expected to be completed by mid-next year. However, European funding for such projects has become more limited. Despite challenges, Romania has the potential to become a regional gas distribution hub due to its growing internal production and strategic geographical position.
