Romania joins the European initiative "Catching-up Regions" aimed at developing Eastern border regions of the EU. The European Commission and the World Bank will send experts to identify development barriers and solutions in the North-West, North-East, and South-East regions. Interim Minister of Investments, Dragoș Pîslaru, announced the official approval of Romania's participation in Brussels. He emphasized the need for local solutions rather than top-down strategies from Brussels. The program aims to assist regions most affected by the Ukraine war, and Pîslaru highlighted the importance of technical assistance for effectively utilizing EU funds. This decision follows Romania's efforts to be included in the EastInvest mechanism and aligns with the EU's communication on Eastern Regions.
