România începe exploatarea zăcămintelor de grafit. Se redeschid minele Catalinu și Ungurelaşu din Baia de Fier

The Romanian government has decided to resume graphite mining in Baia de Fier, Gorj County, specifically at the Catalinu mine and Ungurelaşu quarry. This decision reverses previous closures and is part of a strategic project aimed at ensuring a sustainable supply of critical raw materials. The project, initiated by SALROM, includes infrastructure development and equipment installation for high-purity graphite production, essential for battery manufacturing. The reopening is expected to boost regional development and create jobs, contributing to the transition to green technologies.
