Romania is preparing to resume sheep and goat exports, previously restricted due to animal disease outbreaks. ANSVSA has developed an action plan to be presented to the European Commission. Minister Tánczos Barna noted that discussions in Brussels have identified concrete prospects for lifting the export ban. The main focus of the talks was the conditions Romania must meet for official approval. The restrictions were imposed after outbreaks of peste des petits ruminants and sheep and goat pox, which can severely impact livestock. The resumption of exports is crucial for Romanian farmers, as live animal exports are a significant market for the sheep and goat sector. Until a European decision is made, the restrictions remain in place.
