România, în lumina reflectoarelor la Festivalul de Film de la Veneția cu filmul Alinei Șerban, „Eu contez”
Alina Șerban, a Romanian actress and director, presents her debut film "Eu contez" at the Venice Film Festival, marking a significant achievement as the first Roma female director in the event's history. The film, which explores themes of fear, hope, and self-acceptance, will be screened on September 8 in the "Venezia Spotlight" section. It competes for the Luigi de Laurentiis Award for Best Debut and the Audience Award from Armani Beauty. The story follows a Roma girl named Rebeca, navigating her transition from a care center and her hopes for her father's release from prison. Alina spent over four years researching and documenting the experiences of youth in social care, aiming to portray complex human experiences beyond stereotypes. The film features a diverse cast, including young residents from care centers, and is produced by Ada Solomon and Carla Fotea.
