România, în criză de prevenție medicală: Mortalitatea evitabilă, de două ori peste media UE

Romania faces significant challenges in medical prevention, with avoidable mortality rates nearly double the EU average. The rural areas are particularly affected due to limited access to healthcare services and late diagnosis of chronic diseases. Cardiovascular diseases account for 56% of deaths, and the life expectancy is 5.1 years below the EU average. The healthcare system is underfunded, allocating only 5.8% of GDP to health, compared to around 10% in the EU. Inequalities in healthcare access are exacerbated by the uneven distribution of medical personnel, with only 7.5% serving the rural population. Without effective preventive measures, the burden of non-communicable diseases is expected to rise significantly by 2050.
